Welcome to the Bright Futures Program at Wyndham City
There’s never been a better time to start something more.
You might have heard of us - we are the engine room behind one of Australia’s fastest growing regions. With a team of over 1500 people all working together to prepare the region to almost double in size by 2040. Every day, we are hard at work designing the precincts, building the infrastructure, developing the policies and delivering the programs that keeps the city humming.
But we can’t do it alone.
We offer a range of opportunities for local students and residents to join us and explore Wyndham City behind the scenes. This includes student placements, early talent programs and more.
While we have adopted a hybrid working model, with staff alternating between remote and on-site work, where possible we will assess each application on a case-by-case basis and endeavour to accommodate the placement, whether that be online, in the office or a mix of both.

Year 10 Work Experience
Wyndham City proudly supports the future of the students of Wyndham by offering work experience and workplace learning opportunities.
These activities are now coordinated through our partner at WynBay Local Learning and Employment Network (LLEN) to ensure fair access for all students in the community.
We are not able to accept direct applications for Year 10 Work Experience as the opportunities are promoted directly with local schools through the LLEN and communicated to students via their school's Careers Counsellors.
For any questions regarding these placements, please contact your Careers Counsellor, who can reach out to the LLEN for information on available opportunities.
For other enquiries, contact the Employment Pathways Team via 1300 023 411 or work.experience@wyndham.vic.gov.au.
Structured Work Placement (Year 11 and 12)
Wyndham City proudly supports the future of students throughout Wyndham by offering work experience and workplace learning opportunities. These activities are now coordinated through our partnership with WynBay Local Learning and Employment Network (LLEN) to ensure fair access for all students in the community.
We will not be able to accept direct applications for Year 11 and 12 Structured Workplace Learning placements under this new model as the opportunities will be promoted directly with schools through the LLEN and communicated to students via their school's Careers Counsellors.
For any questions regarding these placements, please contact your Careers Counsellor, who can reach out to the LLEN for information on available opportunities.
Note: Wyndham City gives priority to placements for students who live or study in Wyndham. Due to the high demand for placements and the department's workload, it may not always be possible to accommodate all students.
For other enquiries, contact the Employment Pathways Team via 1300 023 411 or work.experience@wyndham.vic.gov.au.
Work Integrated Learning (WIL) / Vocational Placement
We offer work placement opportunities for local students and residents as part of their course, allowing them to apply their knowledge in a practical setting across a range of departments. To find out more, click here.
Emerging Talent Graduate Program
Council offers a 12-month graduate program commencing in July each year, featuring a rotational model within a host department. This program gives graduates hands-on experience with diverse business operations and projects, while also offering mentoring and opportunities to build professional networks. The roles are advertised on the Council’s Careers page between April and June, where applications can be submitted through the standard recruitment process.
Workplace Immersion Program
A unique program that aims to unlock opportunities for community members by providing short-term roles to build confidence, gain work experience and support transition into the workforce.
If interested, email a copy of your CV to employmentpathways@wyndham.vic.gov.au and one of our team members will provide you with more information about the program. (Note: this program is facilitated by Council in collaboration with a third-party labour hire organisation).
For more information, please contact our Employment Pathways team on 1300 023 411 or via email to employmentpathways@wyndham.vic.gov.au.
