Wyndham City is gearing up to recognise International Women’s Day (8 March) with a series of events and activities aimed at celebrating the girls and women in our community.
International Women’s Day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and also serves as a call to action for accelerating gender equality.
It is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities.
Wyndham City’s activities and events purposefully reflect the United Nations Australia theme March Forward: turning promises into progress.

Wyndham City Council recognises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the first Peoples of Australia. We acknowledge the Bunurong and Wadawurrung Peoples as Traditional Owners of the lands on which Wyndham City operates. The Wadawurrung and Bunurong Peoples have and always will belong to the Werribee Yalook (river), creeks, stars, hills and red clay of this Country. We pay respect to their Ancestors and Elders who always have, and always will, care for Country and community today and for future generations.
