Join us from 6pm for pre-movie fun!

Enjoy free face painting, a magic show, craft activities with Trash Puppets, best-dressed prizes, and more. It’s also the perfect chance to grab dinner from local traders—look out for special offers and extra treats on the night.

Then at 7pm, get comfy with your popcorn and settle in for the all the movie action.

Halloween Movie Night is a family-friendly, free community event hosted at Powell Reserve in Hoppers Crossing. Join us for an outdoor screening of A Minecraft Movie and enjoy a range of pre-movie entertainment including face painting, a magic show, crafts, and more! Businesses along nearby Hoppers Junction will be open late with special offers so you can grab dinner along the way explore the strip and maybe even discover a new restaurant. 

What time is the event?

The event runs from 6pm to 9pm on Friday 31 October 2025.

  • Pre-movie entertainment starts at 6pm
  • Movie screening begins at 7pm

Where is the event held?

The main screening will be held in Powell Reserve, Powell Drive, Hoppers Crossing.  There will also be some activities occurring along the nearby shopping strip Hoppers Junction.

What kind of entertainment will there be?

Before the movie begins, enjoy a range of spooky and fun activities, including:

  • Free face painting
  • A live magic show
  • Craft activities by Trash puppets
  • Best-dressed prizes for costumes (spooky or blocky encouraged!)
  • Giveaways and fun for the whole family

Is it free?

Yes! The movie screening is completely free and proudly hosted by Wyndham City Council.

There’s no need to book—just come along, find a spot on the grass, and enjoy the show. Space is first-come, first-served, so we recommend arriving early. Don’t forget to bring a picnic rug or low chairs to get comfy!

Is seating provided?

Limited seating is provided; attendees are encouraged to bring their own picnic rug or low chairs. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.  If you bring chairs please be respectful of those around you and sit to the side or the back.  Marquees and other shade structures are strictly prohibited.

What else should I bring? 

You’re welcome to BYO a picnic, but please note that alcohol is strictly prohibited. We also encourage you to support our local traders—many will have specials for family feasts and tasty, affordable treats!

It may get chilly in the evening, so don’t forget to bring extra layers. The Best Dressed Competition will take place before the movie starts, so you can layer up afterwards and stay cozy while enjoying the show.

Will there be trick-or-treating?

Some participating shops will have limited treats available—so keep an eye out while exploring Hoppers Junction!

Please remember to use your manners and understand that treats are limited and may run out.

The main treat is the free movie and entertainment at Powell Reserve, so come ready for a fun evening with the community.

Will there be food available?

Absolutely! Hoppers Junction is home to a variety of fantastic local eateries. Whether you’re craving Fish and Chips, Thai, pizza, or sweet treats, you’ll find something delicious. Many local traders will also have special offers and treats available during the event—perfect for dinner or dessert before the movie starts.

Should we come in costume?

Definitely! Costumes are highly encouraged. Whether you're going full spooky or Minecraft blocky, dress to impress—there will be best-dressed prizes awarded during the event.

What happens if it rains?

Halloween Movie Night is an all-weather event. However, if extreme weather is forecast, Wyndham City will share updates via the Wyndham City website and Facebook page. Keep an eye out for any changes, delays, or cancellations.

Is this event suitable for young children?

Yes, the event is designed for families with children of all ages. The activities are all child-friendly, and the movie selection (A Minecraft Movie) is rated PG.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes, dogs are welcome, as long as they are kept on a leash at all times, and you clean up after them. No other animals are permitted at the event.

Are there toilets onsite?

Yes, accessible toilets are available in the carpark area of Hoppers Junction Shops, close to the event space.

Will there be a sensory-friendly space?

Yes, a Sensory Tent will be available as a quiet space for anyone needing a break from the noise or crowds. All are welcome to use it as needed.

What should I do if I get separated from my child?

  • Always supervise children.
  • Point out event staff to your children so they know who to approach if lost.
  • If separated, alert event staff or security immediately.

Conditions of Entry

These Conditions of Entry apply to this event held by Wyndham City.  Attendees must comply with the Conditions of Entry below so that everyone can enjoy the event in safety and comfort.

Alcohol and Smoking
Alcohol and smoking are not permitted at this Wyndham City event.

Food
BYO food is permitted at this event.

Photography/Filming
Live streaming or broadcasting of this event is not permitted. Commercial photography is not permitted without prior permission from Council.

Children
Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.

Pets and Animals
Dogs are permitted at this event provided they are on a lead and supervised by their owner at all times. Owners must pick up after their dogs. All other pets and animals are not permitted.

Advertising and the Sale or Hire of Goods
Attendees are not permitted to sell or offer for sale or hire any items, nor to distribute handbills, pamphlets, notices or other advertising materials, without prior permission from Council.

Anti-social Behaviour
Anti-social behaviour is prohibited. This event is intended to be a family-friendly, safe and comfortable event for all attendees. Council requires that attendees behave in a safe, responsible and courteous manner at all times.

Free Activities
Many of the free activities at this event are run by local businesses and organisations. Council makes no guarantee about an activity’s quality or suitability. Attendees are responsible for deciding whether an activity is appropriate for themselves and/or their children.

Property

By entering this Wyndham City event, attendees confirm their awareness that photography/video may be taking place and their image may be captured and used by Wyndham City Council including printed publications, website, social media and may be shared with media and tourism bodies in promotion of Council activities.
