Community Drum Classes - Adults

Would you like to be part of a community percussion group specialising in Djembe and Samba drumming?

Beginners/Amateur/Advanced Beat Factor Community Drum Course (6 weeks)

Be part of the beat and pulse there’s something for everyone, no matter what your experience. The Djembes are a great way to start your drumming journey, it’s so organic, hands on, gets people together in harmony and that is what we are all about.

The next 6 week block of our Community Drum Class – Point Cook classes runs from August 1st to September the 5th. With a free class and brief performance (optional) on the last class, (5th Sept) as part of Wyndham Learning Festival.

$115 for 6 weeks starting from August 1 or $30 per session on a casual basis.

The aim is to unite a solid team of individuals who love to learn the traditional music and techniques associated with the Djembe goblet drum from West Africa. This includes plenty of djembe techniques, some singing and learning other instruments including Dun Duns, Bells, Shekere and Brazilian percussion.

These Indoor Drumming classes are held on Thursdays in the large community room 1, at Saltwater Community Centre, 153 Saltwater Promenade, Point Cook. 7:30-8:30pm during the school term and occasionally outside during summer.

Drums and Chairs provided, classes concentrate on traditional and creative pieces, rhythms and technique from West Africa, Middle-eastern and Brazil.

Numbers will be capped at around 15 while we’re indoors, so booking in your place is essential.
