Help us grow our Seed Library by harvesting seeds and donating them back to the library. As a thank you, you can then collect up to 3 free seed packets per month!
What is a Seed Library?
The Wyndham Seed Library aims to build food resilience and promote sustainable gardens by supporting local community to share seeds and grow their own produce and habitat gardens.
Growing from the Seed Library is a great way for children and young people to learn about the life cycle of plants and sustainable gardening.
Membership and seeds are free!
The Seed Library is currently at Manor Lakes, Point Cook, Tarneit, and Hoppers Crossing libraries.
Become a Seed Library Member
Your Seed Library membership will be connected to your Wyndham City Libraries membership.
If you're already a member of Wyndham City Libraries, or if you're under 18, join the Seed Library here.
If you're not yet a member of Wyndham City Libraries, join here (and join the Seed Library at the same time).
Collect (Borrow) Seeds
Visit a Seed Library location to collect one seed packet per month for free. A lot of plants are seasonal so we cannot guarantee what seeds will be available but you can contact us to find out by phoning the branch you plan to visit or emailing WyndhamSeedLibrary@wyndham.vic.gov.au or you can view seeds on the Library catalogue.
Grow then harvest and share your seeds.
Harvesting and Donating Seeds
After growing in your garden, harvest and return seeds for others to borrow. This will help us keep the Seed Library thriving. Donating seeds allows you to collect up to 3 free seed packets each month!
Seed Library members are not obligated to donate seeds. Sometimes growing from seeds does not go as planned but everyone is encouraged to contribute to the Seed Library.
Harvesting seeds for donation can be easy - follow these simple instructions or learn more with the additional resources below.
