First Nations artists were engaged to develop site-specific public artworks at the new facilities across Wyndham opened in 2024, including Bembit Bag-rook Community Centre, Koomail Tardy Community Centre, Truganina Community Centre, Birnbial Family Centre and Lollypop Creek Community Centre. Artworks commissioned foreground First Nations’ stories and culture through diverse and engaging artistic expressions. We also work with the Bunurong and Wadawurrung Traditional Owners to ensure alignment with traditional values existed on the land where the five centres were built.
The overarching themes for artworks reflect the identity and purpose of the community centres as important places of gathering for people from diverse backgrounds and different generations. Artworks are foremost warm and welcoming, and created with families and diverse experience in mind. The commissioned artists are Lisa Waup, Katie West, Georgia MacGuire, Madi Mercer and Mandi Barton.
The exhibiting artists for print artworks across community centres include Marlene Gilson, Deanne Gilson, Edwina Green and Ellie Franks.

Wyndham City Council recognises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the first Peoples of Australia. We acknowledge the Bunurong and Wadawurrung Peoples as Traditional Owners of the lands on which Wyndham City operates. The Wadawurrung and Bunurong Peoples have and always will belong to the Werribee Yalook (river), creeks, stars, hills and red clay of this Country. We pay respect to their Ancestors and Elders who always have, and always will, care for Country and community today and for future generations.
