Councillor Appointments to Committees

Council and community committees support the decision making, policy development and project management across the municipality.

By appointing Councillors to these groups, Council aims to enhance transparency, foster collaboration, and provide strong leadership in shaping the future of the city.

There are three types of Committees to which Councillors are appointed:

Internal Committees

Internal Committees support projects, policy and decision making across the municipality.

External Committees

External committees are convened by external parties. Council is invited to nominate Councillors (or Council officers, as appropriate) to represent Council on these advisory or decision-making governance structures.

Delegated Committees and Joint Delegated Committees

Section 63 and 64 of the Local Government Act 2020 specify the requirements for a delegated or joint delegated committee. Currently Wyndham City Council has two delegated committees – the Planning Committee and Contracts Approval Committee (comprising all Councillors), and is a member of one joint delegated committee, LeadWest.
