Two Years are Better Than One
Discover the power of educational play based learning and development
Evidence based research consistently shows that two years of kindergarten are better than one. So, the Victorian Government is investing in funding kindergarten programs for all three-year-olds as of 2022. This program has already rolled out across Victoria and from 2022, Wyndham children can access five hours a week for their first year kindergarten, which will be progressively scaled up to 15 hours a week by 2029.
After consulting with our community, educators, and our Early Years partners, Wyndham is proud to offer some selected extended hour programs (7.5 hour, 10 hour and 15 hour) across our municipality for 2023 that will be funded by The Department of Education and Training.
Funded Kindergarten
The Victorian Government is investing $14 billion in Victoria’s early childhood education, providing access to Free Kinder for all 3- and 4-year-old children.
This means:
- Free Kinder: Free Kinder is available for Victorian 3- and 4-year-old children at participating services across Victoria.
- Pre-Prep: 4-Year-Old Kindergarten will transition to 'Pre-Prep' – increasing to a universal 30-hour a week program of play-based learning for 4-year-old children in Victoria.
- Three-Year-Old Kindergarten: The roll out of Three-Year-Old Kindergarten will continue, with programs increasing to 15 hours a week across the state by 2029 – providing Victorian children with 2 years of a quality kindergarten program before school.
