Cr Jennie Barrera was first elected to Council in 2020. This is her second term on Council. She was Mayor during the 2023-24 term of office.
Cr Barrera is the CEO of the Wyndham Community and Education Centre and through this role has had significant involvement in education and community services and working with young people, multicultural communities, and people from many walks of life.
She has lived in Werribee for the past 34 years, and her four children went to school and grew up in the area.
Cr Barrera has a PhD in History, a Masters of Language and Literacy, and a Bachelor of Arts.
She is also chairperson of the Wyndham Humanitarian Network and a member of the WynBay Local Learning and Employment Network.
Cr Barrera’s vision for Wyndham is for an inclusive and well-connected community that celebrates its diversity, has a strong social and economic plan, provides family-friendly places and spaces and more local jobs and businesses.
As a person who has personally invested in lifelong learning and upskilling, she wants Wyndham’s residents to have these same opportunities across all stages of their lives.

Heathdale Ward
Located in Werribee, the Heathdale Ward covers an area of 10.2 square kilometres. It is bounded by the Werribee River, Dunraven Drive, Heaths Road, Morris Road, Greaves Street North and the railway line. As of July 2023, it had 17,920 registered voters.
According to the Bureau of Statistics, Heathdale Ward has a population of 24,856, of which 10,923 – or 43.9 per cent – were born overseas. The top five countries of foreign birth are India, Myanmar, New Zealand, England and the Philippines. A total of 42.2 per cent speak a language other than English.
A total of 42.6 per cent of the Heathdale Ward population live and work in Wyndham, while 57.4 per cent are employed outside of Wyndham.
