The State Rose & Garden Show was held on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 November, we were treated to glorious weather with the event attracting a record attendance of over 20,000 visitors, marking a significant milestone for its 10th year.
The Gardeners’ Dome featured gardening experts including Horticulturist and garden coach, Chloe Thomson, Vasili Kanidiadis, Scott Hitchins and Kat Lavers. Vertical aerial artists SWAY returned this year with their new gravity defying show ‘The Blue Deluded’ who entertained from high above in the heart of the garden. Attendees were thrilled by this breathtaking spectacle.
All Green Nursery & Garden, our long standing principal sponsor, hosted the All Green Workshop & Café space which was buzzing with activity, with hands on interactive workshops proving to be popular, including sculpting miniature ornaments for your garden, designing and creating an insect hotel, making compost tea, learning how to make and preserve quickles, seed planting and creating a beautiful hanging mobile for your garden or outdoor space.
Furals also facilitated painting workshops over the weekend. This year we ran the Student Garden Gallery Competition with four local Wyndham City schools participating - AI Taqwa College, Alamanda K-9 College, Christway College, and Point Cook P-9 College who all created and exhibited their upcycled garden art at the event. 1st prize went to Christway College, and the runner up was Point Cook P-9 College.
The CWA – Point Cook Branch were serving up their delicious homemade scones with jam and cream and other scrumptious baked goods, together with various stalls featuring indoor plants, pots, gardening tools and more. Green Hub did not disappoint providing workshops and education about sustainable living and gardening practices.
The State Rose and Garden Show is a popular free event hosted by Wyndham City. While admission is free, attendees are encouraged to make a gold coin donation to support the Victoria State Rose Garden Supporters, who play a vital role in maintaining and preserving the garden for the enjoyment of the public.
It was a wonderful day for all, from experienced green thumbs to gardening novices.
