Parents and carers with children in kindergarten are encouraged to take part in the annual parent opinion survey, to give feedback on their experience of families who attend a kindergarten that is delivered by Wyndham City.

The survey is a State Government initiative that encourages parents and carers of children who are enrolled in a funded kindergarten program to provide their feedback and views about their satisfaction with their child’s kindergarten program.

Kindergarten is available to three-year-olds and four-year-olds, the curriculum aims to develop a child’s skills with numbers, letters and problem solving.

The program helps a child build their confidence and independence while also learning social and emotional skills such as making friends. The survey feedback is used to ensure that   early education programs meet the needs of participants.

Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Jennie Barrera said she was pleased with the results of last year’s survey.

“We had just over 900 parents take part in the survey with 95 per cent of respondents reporting that their overall kinder experience was good or excellent,” she said.

“Our kindergarten parents and carers who responded to the survey agreed or strongly agreed that educators were approachable and communicated well with the children.”

The survey also gave parents and carers the opportunity to ask for increased access to written reports about their child’s educational progress, while in-person conversations about their child’s learning was also valued.
