Community engagement is an important process that allows communities to have their say on decisions that affect their lives. It is a crucial input into good decision making and as the arm of government closest to the people, we have an important role to ensure community engagement is genuine, transparent and appropriate.
The Local Government Act 2020 requires that councils must adopt a Community Engagement Policy.
Wyndham City’s Community Engagement Policy 2021-25 sets out our expectations and principles for community engagement. Our policy guides best practice community engagement processes and outcomes through consistent and transparent approaches.
Several internal tools and guidelines are also being developed under a Community Engagement Practice Framework to assist staff to apply the policy.
The policy was updated in September 2022.
