What happens next?

After your registration is submitted, you will receive an email confirming this submission. A registration is not complete until a confirmation email is received.

This registration will be processed, and Child & Family Support may contact you if further information is required.

Your child will then be on the waitlist for the next round of offers. After each round, you will receive an email with the outcome of that round. If your child has received an offer, you will be able to respond by either accepting or declining. If your child has not received an offer, your child will remain on the waitlist for the next round.

If you decline an offer or your child remains on the waitlist, Child & Family Support encourages you to update your preferences to groups showing current availability, which can be found below:

When will I receive an offer?

Depending on date of registration and preference availability, offers will be sent at the specified times for the following year:

  • Round 1 offers for kindergarten in the following will be sent to families by the end of July
  • Round 2 offers for kindergarten in the following year will be sent to families by the end of August
  • Round 3 offers for kindergarten in the following year will be sent to families by the end of September

Offers will then continue to be sent out fortnightly after this point.

How do I update my contact details?

If you need to update your contact details, including your address, email address, or phone number, you can request for these to be updated by:

  1. Clicking the link in your original registration acknowledgment email. You can find this email by searching "Registration confirmation" in your email inbox.
  2. Emailing Child & Family Support at kinderenrolments@wyndham.vic.gov.au or by calling 1300 370 567.

Understanding the Process: How Allocations and Rounds of Offers Work

All allocations of kindergarten placed, also referred to as rounds of offers, are managed by Child & Family Support and not the individual kindergartens.

Kindergartens participating in Wyndham City’s Central Registration Scheme have one approved set of criteria used to prioritise registrations and allocate places. This is known as the ‘Priority of Access Criteria’.

In line with the Victorian Department of Education Priority of Access Guidelines and our Central Registration Scheme Policy, we will prioritise:

  • High priority children;
  • Children who fit the local criteria.

Central Registration Scheme Policy & Starting Kindergarten Guide

If there is not enough space in your most preferred kindergarten service or group, we will try to allocate your child into one of your other preferences. If you have only listed one preference, or we are unable to offer you any of your other preferences, we will continue to try place your child in the following rounds of offers.

A child’s position on the waiting list is constantly changing. This is dependent upon factors such as the Priority of Access Guidelines, new applications, and how other families respond to their offers.

Registrations are not given priority based upon your date of submission.

Receiving an offer

I want to accept an offer

Families can choose to ‘accept’ an offer that they have received if they are satisfied with the kindergarten service and group. When you receive your offer confirmation email, select this response and your child will be placed into that group immediately.

I want to decline an offer

If the offer received is not suitable for your circumstances, families can choose to ‘Decline’ an offer they have received and return to the waitlist for the next round. You can do this by selecting the appropriate response on your offer confirmation email. Once declined, you will be directed to a new form where you are required to nominate your new preferences for the following round.

Please Note: By declining your offer, there is no guarantee of receiving another offer, as it is based on the availability of groups selected as preferences and the children on the waitlist for those groups.

What’s next?

Once an offer has been accepted and your child is placed in a group, further information will be sent via email formally welcoming you to kindergarten in the relevant year. This information will assist when the time comes to introduce your child to the service.
