Economic Development Strategy 2022-26
As Wyndham grows, the unique city, coast and country elements of the municipality continue to be protected and enhanced with thoughtful and innovative planning, development, and investment.
Our Economic Development Strategy 2022-26 highlights the vision, attitudes, and aspirations of our growing and diverse community and Council’s commitment to supporting and working with local businesses, collaborating with industry, and partnering with all levels of government to drive Wyndham’s economic growth and success through:
- Business Engagement and Connection: Strengthen connections with government, industry and community to foster new opportunities for investment and growth.
- Entrepreneurship and Innovation: Develop a diverse, robust, and resilient local economy underpinned by businesses responsive to local, national and global influences.
- Investment: Attract and facilitate new job creation investment and enable national and international trade.
- Activity Centre Development and Enhancement:Grow and enhance Wyndham’s activity centres to provide additional local jobs, services, attractions and city-living opportunities for Wyndham’s growing population.
2023-24 Update
The Economic Development Strategy’s 2023-24 Update ensures our strategy remains contemporary, current, on track and focussed in a changing economy.
- Wyndham’s economic story: The update strategy clearly crafts Wyndham’s story – our Wyndham today, our future Wyndham economy (including updates to major projects, Werribee national economic and innovation cluster, and East Werribee Precinct), and a more detailed action plan.
- Data-led: The most recent economic data have been included and elevated with infographics and visual elements to better reflect Wyndham’s economic story, the current and future challenges and opportunities for Wyndham, and to inform decision-making on Council’s economic development services, programs and initiatives.
- Glocal benchmarking: New global case studies of Malmo Sweden, Manchester UK and Hamilton NZ draws on city comparisons to Wyndham and serve as inspiration for future thinking. Additionally, local businesses BrandScent and Light & Glo, Fresh Select and Nutri V, and Alex Fraser Group highlight the diversity of our industries, size, growth and Council’s contribution to their path to success.
- Measurable goals: 4 themes. 14 initiatives. 47 goals. Clear outline of our strategic objectives and action plan Council will implement, monitor and measure and report against quarterly and annually for the remaining two years of the strategy.
Acknowledging that local and global economic conditions are subject to rapid change and evolution, the strategy serves as a living document, itsobjectives and actions allows for flexibility, review and revision.
