Councillor Jasmine Hill - Featherbrook Ward

Elected to Council in 2020 and now serving her second term, Cr Jasmine Hill brings a dedicated, community-focused approach to her role as a Councillor and secondary school teacher. Originally from Malaysia, Cr Hill served as Deputy Mayor of Wyndham City in 2021-22.

With nearly 15 years of community involvement in Wyndham, Cr Hill has championed education, youth empowerment, cultural inclusion, support for vulnerable groups, and the local business community.

She has worked to foster a thriving local economy, supporting businesses through initiatives that promote growth, innovation, and resilience. Cr Hill has welcomed newcomers, inspired women, mentored young minds, and supported not-for-profit and charity organisations.

Cr Hill’s journey began in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), leading to a PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the UK. With research and teaching experience across continents, including the UK, Malaysia, Shanghai, and Australia, Cr Hill has infused innovation into local classrooms and university settings. Her long-term vision is for Wyndham to flourish as a City of Education, offering opportunities for all.

Passionate about community service, sustainable energy, active transport, the arts, music, sports, preserving history, and building a strong local economy, Jasmine is driven to make a meaningful, lasting impact in Wyndham.

Featherbrook Ward

Featherbrook Ward is also in Point Cook. As of July, 2023, it contained 18,079 registered electors. The Ward is bounded by Hacketts Road, Skeleton Creek, Boardwalk Boulevard, Point Cook Road and Sneydes Road. It covers an area of 8.8 square kilometres.

According to the Bureau of Statistics, Featherbrook Ward has a population of 29,816 – the most of any Ward – of which 16,493 – or 55.3 per cent – were born overseas. The top five countries of foreign birth are India, China, New Zealand, Philippines and Malaysia. A total of 56 per cent speak a language other than English.

A total of 33.3 per cent of Featherbrook Ward live and work in Wyndham, while 66.7 per cent are employed outside of Wyndham. Featherbrook also has the highest number of tertiary qualified residents (8,652) in Wyndham.
