Councillor Mia Shaw - Werribee Park Ward

Cr Mia Shaw is serving her third term as a Wyndham Councillor, having first been first elected in 2016.

Cr Shaw also served as Mayor for the 2018-2019 term. A working parent, Cr Shaw’s family has been a part of the Wyndham Community for more than 100 years.

Her Great Grandfather, William Shaw, was the Shire President on three occasions between 1917 and 1946.

Shaws Road and the Shaws Road Bridge were named in honour of his commitment to the local community.

Cr Shaw has a Graduate Diploma (Public Relations) from RMIT and a Bachelor of Arts (Journalism) from Deakin University. She has also completed and graduated from the Australian Institute of Company Directors course, which provides a comprehensive grounding in the roles and duties of board directors.

Cr Shaw has previously been Wyndham City’s Future Focused Economy portfolio holder, which focused on developing strategies and policies to enhance employment, attracting new industries to Wyndham, and developing businesses.

Werribee Park Ward

Werribee Park Ward covers the suburbs of Werribee, Cocoroc and Werribee South. It is the largest Ward by area, covering 152.5 square kilometres. It is bounded by the railway line, Hacketts Road, Aviation Road and coastline. As of July, 2023, it had 18,404 registered electors.

According to the Bureau of Statistics, Werribee Park Ward has a population of 23,703 – of which 9,639 – or 40.7 per cent – were born overseas – the lowest amount in Wyndham. The top five countries of foreign birth are India, New Zealand, England, the Philippines and Italy. A total of 38.5 per cent speak a language other than English.

A total of 43.2 per cent of Werribee Park Ward working age residents live and work in Wyndham, while 56.8 per cent are employed outside of Wyndham.
