Wyndham City is celebrating a major milestone for Tarneit’s newest open space, with stage one works at Polly Parade Reserve ramping up and the construction of a brand-new sporting pavilion set to begin in the coming months.

Stage one of Polly Parade Reserve is on track for completion in mid-2025 and will deliver sports fields for soccer and cricket, tennis courts, cricket practice nets, pathways, sports lighting, fencing, landscaping, and irrigation, adding to the already-completed children’s play space and BBQ and picnic area.

The community will be able to enjoy daytime use of the reserve from June 2025, with the hours of use to be expanded in July 2025 following completion of the electricity supply for sportsground and court lighting.

Meanwhile, Wyndham City has awarded the construction contract for a new sporting pavilion that will be centrally located within the reserve to cater for soccer, cricket, softball and tennis.

Wyndham City Mayor, Councillor Mia Shaw, said work on the pavilion would commence in May.

“This is a fantastic investment in the future of sport and recreation in our City,” Cr Shaw said.

“We know how important access to high-quality sporting facilities is for our community, and this project will ensure residents of all ages and abilities have the opportunity to stay active, healthy, and engaged.”

“Once complete, Polly Parade Reserve will perfectly complement the adjacent Bembit Bag-rook Community Centre, which Wyndham City opened in 2022.”

Wimba Ward Councillor Josh Gilligan added: “This new pavilion will be more than just buildings – it’ll be a vibrant community hub where people come together to play, connect, and support one another.”

“This investment reflects Council’s commitment to creating inclusive and accessible spaces for all.”

This $7.1 million Wyndham City project is supported by a $50,000 grant from the Victorian Government.
