Wyndham City is proud to announce Sarah Sherwood as the One Wyndham recipient for February.
Sarah is community-focussed, conscientious and dedicated to helping others. She is passionate about being involved in her local community and making a positive difference through mentoring.
She is Vice President of the Good News Power Basketball Club in Tarneit. She supports children and teenagers from multicultural backgrounds through hosting social and sporting events to build confidence and encourage social inclusion.
Last year, Sarah helped the club receive a 2024 Australia Post Community Grant to achieve better mental health outcomes in the Tarneit community through educational programs, mental healthcare training and accreditation for coaches and staff, as well as hosting open training sessions to raise awareness of mental health.
Sarah encourages young people to get involved in basketball, make friends, keep healthy and make the most of opportunities that come their way.
Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Mia Shaw, said: “Sarah makes a fabulous contribution to Wyndham through her dedication and commitment. She is an inspiring role model for young Wyndham residents.”
“Wyndham City thanks Sarah for helping to foster inclusivity and make Wyndham a better place.”
Sarah is studying her final year of biomedicine at the University of Melbourne, whilst volunteering as a coach for the Melbourne Tigers and as a lifeguard during summer.
One Wyndham recipients are residents aged between 12 to 25 who positively contribute to the Wyndham community and are role models to other young people.
