Council adopted the Werribee South Beach Master Plan on May 23, 2023 to guide the future use, upgrade and development of this important coastal precinct. The Master Plan was based on community preferences and priorities for the area and includes a wide range of project upgrades, to be delivered over a 10 year timeline.
Works are due to commence in early 2024, subject to Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action approvals. Stage 1 works will include:
- An upgraded Wyndham Bay Trail shared user path;
- New solar path lighting;
- A wetland deck overlooking the Werribee River and You Yangs;
- A new fishing platform;
- Sand dune revegetation works and coastal tree planting; and
- A dog of lead beach;
Stage 2 works, subject to further funding will include playground upgrade works.
Stage 3 will include:
- Upgraded public toilets in Price Reserve;
- A new beach visitors precinct including new picnic and barbeque facilities, a beach access ramp and accessible beach matting to the shoreline; and
- Exercise equipment and;
- End of journey bike facilities
The master plan also includes a coastal adaptation framework to guide Councils management practices at Werribee South Beach in response to climate change and sea level rise projections.
Council endorsement of the master plan allows an application to be lodged with the Department of Energy, Environment & Climate Action.
