WYNDHAM CITY LIBRARIES CONDITIONS OF MEMBERSHIP

 

1. ELIGIBILITY

1.1 Any Victorian resident may join the library, free of charge.  By joining the library, you agree to accept these conditions of membership.

1.2 Memberships cannot be shared between or transferred to another person.

 

2. FULL MEMBERSHIP

2.1 A full membership allows you to access all library services, including borrowing physical items, using public access computers in branch and accessing Council’s eLibrary.

2.2 To join as a full member, you must complete and submit a membership form on Council’s website and attend a library branch to collect your library card.

2.3 To collect your library card, you must provide government-issued identification, or other proof of identity to Council’s satisfaction.

2.4 If you are under the age of 15, you must have your parent or legal guardian’s consent to join the library and your parent or legal guardian must attend a library branch with you to collect and sign your library card and accept these conditions on your behalf.

 

3. eMEMBERSHIP

3.1 An eMembership allows you to access Council’s eLibrary.  eLibrary members are unable to borrow physical items from the library, or use the library’s public computers.

​​​​​​​3.2 To join as an eMember, you must complete and submit a membership form on Council’s website.

 

4. BORROWING

4.1 Full members may borrow up to 60 items at a time, subject to any collection limits as advised by Council.

4.2 Full members aged under 18 are restricted from borrowing items with an adult classification rating.

4.3 You acknowledge and agree that you are responsible for all items that are borrowed using your library card.

​​​​​​​4.4 You must bring your library card with you to borrow items from the library.  Council may, at its discretion, allow you to borrow items without your library card provided that you can produce sufficient identification.

4.5 Items may be returned to any Wyndham City Libraries location, regardless of which location they were borrowed from.

4.6 Items must be returned or renewed on or prior to their due date.  Council may send you a courtesy reminder email 2 days prior to the due date of your items.

4.7 Items may be renewed up to 3 times, provided that they have not been requested by another library member.  Renewals may be made online, in person or over the phone.  Where possible, Council will automatically renew your items on your behalf.

4.8 If you have overdue items or charges exceeding $30, you will be restricted from borrowing until the items are returned or renewed, or the charges paid.

 

5. LOST OR DAMAGED ITEMS

5.1 You must immediately notify Council if any of your borrowed items or your library card is lost or stolen.  You acknowledge and agree that you are responsible for all items borrowed on your library card prior to you reporting it as lost or stolen.

5.2 Any item that is more than 3 months overdue will be deemed to be a lost item and will incur a lost item charge for its replacement.

5.3 Any item which is returned in a damaged condition will incur a damaged item charge for its repair or replacement.

5.4 Any disputes relating to lost or damaged items must be raised with Council staff as soon as practicable in the circumstances.

 

6. USE OF PUBLIC COMPUTERS

Full library members aged 15 and over may use the library’s public access computers.  Full library members aged under 15 may use the library’s public access computers with their parent or legal guardian’s prior consent.

 

7. SUSPENSION OR CANCELLATION OF MEMBERSHIP

7.1 You acknowledge and agree that if you breach these conditions of membership, Council may suspend or cancel your library membership.

7.2 You may request a cancellation of your membership in person at any library branch.  Provided that all borrowed items have been returned and any outstanding charges are paid, Council will cancel your membership.

 

8. GENERAL

8.1 You must notify Council of any change to your personal or contact details as soon as is practicable in the circumstances.  You may update your details via your online account or in person at a library branch.

8.2 You agree to comply with the conditions of entry, library rules and all directions of Council staff, and otherwise conduct yourself in a safe and reasonable manner when in the library.

8.3 Council reserves the right to amend these conditions at any time and without notice to you.​​​​​​​
