Forget those grey skies, there’s plenty to look forward to this winter with Melbourne’s newest pop-up ice skating rink, right here in Werribee!
Wyndham City will bring the magic of ice skating to Wyndham for the first time this winter with a pop-up ice skating rink in Wyndham Cultural Centre Car Park in the heart of Werribee City Centre.
The fully enclosed, all-weather pop-up rink will be open for ten days during the winter school holidays from 4 – 13 July and will be held in place of this year’s Winter Street Party.
Wyndham City Mayor Cr Mia Shaw said that the new pop-up rink would provide low-cost wintry fun for all ages.
“We’re excited to be able refresh our winter program this year, with a new family-friendly activity to enjoy and new reasons to visit our city centre and support local businesses.”
“There’ll be fun themed skating sessions, DJ tunes and delicious winter fare on offer from local businesses to enjoy.”
“Whether you're a seasoned skater or a beginner, it’s a great chance to embrace the season and create some new memories with family and friends.”
“Winter is traditionally a quiet time for local businesses and the pop-up ice skating rink will draw thousands of people into our city centre, building on the success of multiday events like LIT and encouraging people to stay longer and explore local shops, restaurants, cafes and other businesses.”
“It’s a fantastic way for us to extend visitation and boost trade in the midst of winter and with the pop-up rink open from 10.30am – 8.30pm there will be a range of opportunities for local businesses to benefit across both daytime and evening trading hours.”
“With the new pop-up ice skating rink and re-opening of the Wyndham Cultural Centre and Wyndham Art Gallery, Werribee City Centre is going to be buzzing this winter – and that’s what it’s all about, creating vibrant, welcoming places where people want to be and our local businesses can prosper.”
Bookings for Werribee’s pop-up ice skating rink will open in June with tickets, which includes skate hire and learn to skate equipment, just $5 for kids, $10 for adults and $25 for a family of four.
