Work on the Jamieson Way Community Centre and Reserve expansion is going at a cracking pace, with stage 1 works almost complete and stage 2 works to begin in coming weeks.

To date, this exciting upgrade has delivered a third kindergarten room, expanded kindergarten outdoor play area, new multipurpose meeting spaces, upgraded staff facilities, new maternal and child health consulting rooms, a new reception area and a community kitchen.

Stage 2 works will bring even more exciting additions to the precinct, including a new indoor multisport sports venue, netball pavilion with two new netball courts, landscaping, and a new playground with supporting amenities.

It also includes the demolition of two tennis courts to make way for a new car park to service the upgraded reserve.

Importantly, the two remaining tennis courts and four netball courts will continue to serve the community.

Wyndham City’s Featherbrook Ward Councillor, Jasmine Hill, said the completion of Stage 1 works was a significant achievement for Point Cook’s growing community.

“These new and improved facilities are already benefitting families and community groups in Point Cook and reinforce our commitment to delivering accessible and high-quality community spaces for learning and sports,” Cr Hill said.

Cheetham Ward Councillor Susan McIntyre added: “This next stage of the Jamieson Way Community Centre and Reserve expansion will deliver fantastic new sporting and recreational facilities, making Jamieson Way a true hub for community connection and active living.”

“This project is all about future-proofing this important community space so that it can continue to serve the growing needs of Point Cook residents for years to come.”

This expansion has been supported by a $2 million Growing Suburbs Fund grant and a $2.75 million Building Blocks grant from the Victorian Government.
