Residents are invited to show their passion for Keeping Wyndham Clean by joining a Clean Up Australia Day event in Wyndham City in February and March.
Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Mia Shaw, said Clean Up Australia Day was an important time for the community to come together to tackle hot spot litter areas.
“Throughout the year we we’re encouraging our residents to use their three, free hard and green waste collections to dispose of household waste and to use their free tip tokens instead of dumping,” she said.
“We’re also encouraging residents to dispose of e-waste at free recycling points across the city, to return shopping trolleys instead of leaving them by the side of the road and to report dumping.”
“Each year Wyndham City spends around two million dollars and countless hours collecting rubbish that has been illegally dumped – this is an unfair impost on all our residents, the majority of whom do the right thing.”
“Illegal dumping is an eyesore. It is also an unnecessary cost to all ratepayers.”
“Clean Up Australia Day events give residents who take pride in their community, the opportunity to come together to Keep Wyndham Clean.”
“Our major clean up event will be in the Werribee City Centre on 25 February. We’ll be joining Werribee River Association and local businesses to clean up along the river and surrounding parkland – come down and join us!”
Clean Up Australia Day is officially held on Sunday 2 March. Residents can register a clean-up event on the Clean Up Australia Day website. More information can be found at: www.cleanup.org.au/cleanupaustraliaday
