Wyndham City is upgrading Sanctuary Lakes’ shared path network, with work on a new concrete path to commence shortly.
The three-kilometre concrete path will extend from the bridge over Skeleton Creek near Sunflower Walk to the Hobsons Bay Council municipal boundary near Winter Way, replacing the existing gravel path.
Construction will begin early next month, with work completed in sections to allow other parts of the path to be used.
Wyndham City Mayor, Councillor Mia Shaw, said these works aligned with Council’s Active Transport Strategy and would enhance Sanctuary Lakes’ shared path network.
“Once complete, this project will provide residents with a safer, more connected, and accessible active transport route,” Cr Shaw said.
Cheetham Ward Councillor Susan McIntyre, who also advocated for these works alongside the Sanctuary Lakes community, added: “This new path will connect with existing shared user paths near Skeleton Creek and the Hobsons Bay municipal boundary and provide more opportunities for locals to walk and ride.”
“I am delighted that work is about to commence on this long-awaited project.”
“The community has been anticipating this development for some time, and its benefits will extend beyond Sanctuary Lakes, enhancing connectivity along the coast.”
“With the Bay Trail bridge opening into Saltwater, this project will provide a more accessible valuable link for residents and visitors alike.”
