A new mural titled ‘Wings Over Saltwater Wetlands’ at Saltwater Swim School, Point Cook, is created by local artist Sasha Heath, also known as Hellotomato. The artwork spans two large walls on the west-facing facade of the building.
‘Wings Over Saltwater Wetlands’ captures the vibrant colours and unique features of the local wetlands, highlighting the common sight of ibis in flight. By introducing greenery and natural elements, Sasha’s design transforms this blank canvas into a serene and inviting space. The rich hues add a calming atmosphere where people can relax and reflect. Serving as a visual landmark, the mural showcases the vibrancy and natural beauty of the local wetlands, bringing to life a lively scene that celebrates the diverse colours and native elements of the area.
Sasha is a versatile artist from Hoppers Crossing. Her specialty lies in creating hand-painted murals and whimsical digital illustrations. Since 2012, she's had the privilege of working with a wide range of clients across Australia. Her true passion lies in mural painting, where the thrill of large-scale artistry continually inspires her. She takes great pride in creating immersive mural experiences, often weaving in elements that highlight a commitment to environmental awareness and celebrating our native plants and wildlife.
In 2023, Sasha was involved in Wyndham Art & Culture’s Local Time Creative Residency, during which she developed her ceramic practice in the art studios of Saltwater Community Centre. The mural opportunity brings her back to the community and allows an expansion of her artistic expression on a large, public canvas. This will be shared to children and adults of the community in many years to come.
This project is delivered as part of the Wyndham Public Art Plan (2022-2032). The project is a partnership with MAMAM.
