Wyndham City has formally endorsed its 2023/24 Annual Report, providing a unique snapshot of the infrastructure and services Council has provided its growing community over the past financial year.

During 2023/24, Wyndham City delivered $145 million worth of capital works, including $28.95 million on roads, $66.5 million on recreational, leisure and community facilities, $5.76 million on footpaths and shared paths and $17.9 million on parks, open spaces and streetscapes.

It was a big year for new and upgraded community facilities, with Council opening the doors to the new Lollypop Creek Community Centre in Werribee, Truganina Community Centre and Hoppers Crossing Family Centre, while work commenced on stage one of the Jamieson Way Community Centre upgrade.

In Tarneit, Western United Football Club played their first games at the new Ironbark Fields training facility, featuring three pitches, a two-storey pavilion and capacity for 5000 spectators. This facility is the first stage of Council’s landmark A-League Stadium Project with Western Melbourne Group.

Meanwhile, work was completed on the final stages at Webster Street Reserve and Brookdale Road Reserve, delivering the Point Cook community with the sport and recreational facilities they need, closer to home.

Wyndham City CEO Stephen Wall said the Annual Report demonstrated Council’s commitment to delivering high quality services and infrastructure for Wyndham.

“Wyndham City delivers a breadth of services to its community – from waste collection to parks and open space, community centres and libraries,” Mr Wall said.

“Although it’s becoming increasingly challenging to deliver at the levels required for a population of more than 300,000 (and growing) residents, Wyndham City spent $122 million on community-facing service delivery.”

“It’s clear our locals love being active, with more than 2.2 million visits to major leisure facilities over the past 12 months.”

“Our events and activations have also been a hit with the community, with 14 major events attracting more than 103,000 attendees; 178 arts and culture programs bringing in over 390,000 attendees; and over 8300 new Australian citizens conferred through 50 citizenship ceremonies.”

“Ensuring Wyndham is a beautiful and environmentally sustainable place to live is also a key focus, and during 2023/24 Wyndham City planted more than 17,400 trees, picked up over 62,500 hard waste collections and responded to 714 graffiti requests.”
