Hoppers Crossing is set to get greener if a proposed plan to create a vibrant community garden on the former Mossfiel Kindergarten site receives enough Community support.
Residents are invited to have their say on the proposed plan that aims to create an oasis of edible and attractive plantings in the heart of Hoppers Crossing.
The former Mossfiel Kindergarten site is now being converted to open space following the demolition of the building. Elements of the former kindergarten play area, including the gazebo, sand pit, mature trees and grass lawn are proposed to remain if the site will be used as a Community Garden.
Wyndham City’s Grange Ward Councillor, Shannon McGuire, said the new garden had the potential to become a valuable community hub.
“A concept design has been developed to turn this area into a new community garden, offering a welcoming space for people to grow their own produce, connect with neighbours, and build strong community connections,” Cr McGuire said.
“The designs feature a picnic shelter, pathways, equipment storage shed, water tank, raised garden beds, and open space for planting fruits and vegetables.”
“The garden will also be fenced for safety and security.”
“Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from individuals and groups with an interest in being involved in the management of the potential garden, an aspect critical to its future success”.
