The Project
In Wyndham City, where many residents do not have access to reliable, fast internet services, access to public wifi is important for inclusion and accessibility. Access to WiFi facilities in public spaces is also an important part of a modern city. It contributes positively to the activation of public space, has social and economic benefits, and is a service expected by residents and visitors.
Since 2016, Wyndham City Council has been providing public WiFi access in council facilities across the city including community centres and libraries.
In 2017, Wyndham City Council also installed the first outdoor wifi facilities in Station Place and Wedge Street Piazza in Werribee. This project is a key component in our plan to create vibrant activity centres.
Project Outcomes
Public WiFi is now available at 12 locations and usage statistics show that there are more than 30,000 free sessions per month.
