Big West – Mobile Art Spaces

Big West - Mobile Art Spaces is bringing new artworks and art experiences to Truganina and Hoppers Crossing.  In 2016 our Mobile Art Spaces projects are:

  • Arndell Park Community Centre – A writing and choir project culminating in a community performance of locally written songs led by Bruno Leiterri and Jennie Swain.
  • The Grange Community Centre – A series of short films created in Hoppers Crossing plus a community created garden project led by landscape artist Jo Mott.

Indigo Artist Studio and Gallery

A collective artist hub that welcomes emerging and experienced artists.

  • The studio is available from Tuesdays - Saturdays for a weekly subscription of $10, or long term access of $35 monthly/ $200 for 6 months.
  • Artists are invited to collaborate from time to time and can participate in the collective annual exhibition.
  • The studio is equipped with easels, tables and stools and welcomes artist working in all mediums.

L2R Next Gen

L2R Next Gen (L2R) is a grassroots not-for-profit organisation that provides opportunities for young people to participate in free weekly hip hop dance workshops in Melbourne’s West including young people from culturally and linguistically diverse, newly arrived and at-risk communities.

More than just a series of dance workshops, L2R promotes social inclusion, mental and physical health and self-respect by employing creative approaches to break down social barriers including age, race, religion, culture and gender while promoting resilience in the community. L2R connects young people to essential services in their community and builds pathways for young people to become emerging cultural leaders.

Weekly workshops  are currently running in Wyndham at the Youth Resource Centre.

A newly formed collective of filmmakers in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. The collective aims to help grow film and artistic endeavours of the region, works on projects together and encourages sharing of ideas and resources.

Rotary Art Show

The 2016 Rotary Club of Werribee Art Show will be held Saturday 15 - Sunday 16 October at Wyndham Civic Centre - Function Rooms.

The Annual Rotary Club of Werribee Art Show offers an opportunity for savvy art lovers to purchase affordable artworks for their homes and businesses.

Offering prizes in the categories of Oils, Acrylic, Watercolour, Pastel and Other Medium.

This event not only helps artists connect to new audiences but also raises money for the charitable work of Rotary. Proceeds from the Art Show fund a large variety of local projects and volunteer initiatives that support the most vulnerable in the Wyndham community.

You can also attend the opening night gala on Friday 14 October 7pm.

Werribee Concert Band

Werribee Concert Band is a symphonic wind ensemble of woodwind, brass and percussion instruments.

Werribee Concert Band provides opportunities for musicians from the western suburbs to play in an ensemble which can attempt more sophisticated music than may be possible by school bands or other groups. The band also makes a contribution to community cultural activities through performances, and encourages the very highest standards of performance of which the players are capable.

Wyndham City supports Werribee Concert Band to produce its annual fundraising concert at Wyndham Cultural Centre by underwriting production costs.

Western Union Writers

Western Union Writers offer three writing groups aimed at fostering and supporting local writing talent. Western Union Writers also sponsor the annual Imagination Creation competition for young writers which attracts entries from all over Australia and the World.

The main group meets monthly at member’s homes, with groups for young writers meeting at Plaza Library and Werribee Library.

Wyndham Art Works

Wyndham Art Works (previously known as Wyndham Community Arts Alliance Inc) is an arts and culture collective comprised of individual visual artists, theatre companies, a writer’s and egg decorating guild and cultural performance, language and art groups.

Based in Laverton North, The Wyndham Art Works building is comprised of art studios that are available for a minimum 3 month lease, large common usage rooms that are great for group rehearsals or workshops.

Wyndham Community Cultural Foundation

The Wyndham Community Cultural Foundation was established in 1999 to raise money to support the development of Wyndham Cultural Centre and to establish a Cultural Trust for the development and promotion of arts and culture activities for the community of Wyndham.

The activities and programs include the production, publication and promotion of performing arts, visual arts, music, literature and crafts, design, film and video, cultural & community arts.

The Wyndham Community Cultural Foundation Ltd is a non-profit cultural foundation which offers funding  in two funding rounds per year.

Wyndham Theatre Company

The mission of the Wyndham Theatre Company is to create opportunities for community participation in amateur theatre. WTC focuses on producing a well-balanced theatrical season, and strive to produce excellence in all aspects of operation and production. The WTC does this by:

  • Producing two or more quality theatrical productions each year.
  • Providing fun and entertainment to the community through live theatre.
  • Creating opportunities for members of the community to develop talents in all aspects of live theatre.

Wyndham City supports WTC by the provision of an operational base at Kelly Park as well as funding professional development workshops and underwriting productions at Wyndham Cultural Centre.
