Wyndham City is proud to support IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia), and on Thursday 15 May we will celebrate our LGBTQIA+ community with a special event that includes a flag raising ceremony and featuring the world’s first LGBTQIA+ and First Nations Bachelorette Brooke Blurton as the keynote speaker.
IDAHOBIT marks the anniversary of May 17, 1990, when the World Health Organisation removed homosexuality from the Classification of Diseases. Today, the day serves as a recognition of that milestone, and a day to raise awareness of LGBTQIA+ rights and the work still needed to be done to combat discrimination.
Wyndham City’s activities and events purposefully reflect this year’s IDAHOBIT theme No one left behind: equality, freedom and justice for all.
Registrations for this event are essential.

Wyndham City Council recognises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the first Peoples of Australia. We acknowledge the Bunurong and Wadawurrung Peoples as Traditional Owners of the lands on which Wyndham City operates. The Wadawurrung and Bunurong Peoples have and always will belong to the Werribee Yalook (river), creeks, stars, hills and red clay of this Country. We pay respect to their Ancestors and Elders who always have, and always will, care for Country and community today and for future generations.
