Wyndham City has adjusted its approach for this project and the delivery of the Tarneit Road duplication will now be delivered in two separate stages. This decision has been made to due to the increasing costs associated with capital works projects.
The project will now be executed in stages:
- Stage One: This stage involves a $10 million upgrade of the Tarneit Road and Leakes Road Intersection.
- Stage Two: The full duplication of Tarneit Road between Sayers Road and Leakes Road including upgrading of three existing signalised intersections to a duplicated arrangement. This stage will be subject to future funding.
The intersection upgrade has been prioritised due to its significant impact on road safety and traffic congestion, based on both our analysis and community feedback.
Construction for the Stage One intersection works is expected to commence in early 2025 with all works expected to be completed by early 2026.
