This project aims to enhance road safety, reduce congestion, and improve pedestrian and cycling infrastructure by expanding Tarneit Road to two lanes in each direction between Sayers Road and Leakes Road. Additionally, it will upgrade three existing signalised intersections to accommodate the new road arrangement and enhance existing pathways to improve safety and accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists.
Benefits:
- Improved Road Safety: The duplication and intersection upgrades will significantly enhance safety for drivers and pedestrians by providing safer crossings.
- Reduced Travel Times: The additional lanes and optimised intersections will alleviate congestion, leading to shorter and more predictable travel times.
- Enhanced Pedestrian and Cycling Accessibility: Upgraded pathways will provide safer, more convenient routes for pedestrians and cyclists.
- Increased Capacity: The duplication will boost the road's capacity to handle current and future traffic volumes, accommodating the area’s growing population.
These works form part of our Connecting Wyndham Strategy – an investment into our future to better keep Wyndham connected.
This project is projected to be delivered by 2029 and is subject to future funding.
