Wyndham Learning Community Strategy 2024-2029

Wyndham City Council has a long history of commitment to learning as a driver for change in the Wyndham community, facilitating Learning Community Strategies continuously from 2006 to the present day. Council recognises the importance of lifelong learning and the rapid pace at which the educational and learning landscape is developing. It believes that learning is fundamental to the well-being, prosperity, and sense of belonging of all people.

The purpose of the Learning Community Strategy is to provide a strategic and integrated framework for the creation of a community of lifelong learning. It is used as the basis for Council to advocate, facilitate, explore, initiate, and deliver on Wyndham’s learning goals. It clearly defines Council’s role in improving learning outcomes.  As a UNESCO Learning City, Wyndham seeks to mobilise resources from a range of sectors to promote lifelong learning for all. Without the strong connections forged over the series of Wyndham’s Learning Community Strategies this work would not be possible.

We are excited about the many upcoming Learning events taking place as a result of this Learning Community Strategy – the Wyndham Learning Festival; Wyndham Principal’s Breakfast; our First Nations WYNtalk; and the celebration of lifelong learner stories, just to name a few.

Learning Community Strategy 2024 – 2029 The Vault

A repository for issues and themes

Extensive consultations were held during the formation of Wyndham City Council’s Learning Community Strategy 2024 – 2029 and Action Plan. These consultations aimed to give voice to people from across Wyndham and harvest their views on the priority for learning in Wyndham over the next six years.

The consultations included face to face and online workshops, individual discussions and conversations and completed surveys conducted via The Loop.

A summary of the workshop themes and the information gained from consultations and the Loop can be found in The Vault. It captures the key issues and opportunities from these extensive consultations.

The purpose of retaining the information is to ensure the richness of ideas and input is not lost and can inform the ongoing development and implementation of the Learning Community Action Plan.

Reflecting on the Wyndham Learning Community Strategy 2018-2023

As we transition into our new Learning Community Strategy 2024-2029, it’s important to reflect on the journey and achievements from the previous Wyndham Learning Community Strategy (LCS) 2018-2023. Over these five years, we focused on promoting learning opportunities, enhancing community engagement, and fostering a culture of lifelong learning across Wyndham.

For those interested in exploring our progress, outcomes, and stories from the LCS 2018-2023, we have created an online repository. This repository serves as a comprehensive archive, detailing reports and community updates from this strategic period.

We encourage you to explore these resources and stay updated on how we’re building on these successes with the new strategy.
